Yesterday, First Communicants from across the Diocese gathered in St Joseph’s, Kilmarnock, for the Diocese of Galloway Youth First Communion Celebration Day – a chance to celebrate having received their First Communion, and to be invited to become a part of Galloway Youth!

The young people all had a fantastic day, getting to know each other through a wide variety of different games and activities, and over pizza and a BBQ. They enjoyed hearing talks from Margaret and Louise on the importance of the Eucharist and hearing them share their own memories of First Communion (a few years ago as Louise said!). Bishop Frank joined the group for Mass in which he reflected on the meaning of the word ‘Amen’ – giving our yes to God with faith, trust, and love. Everyone had a fantastic day with many going home and asking their parents and carers to sign them up for the next day!

The next event, the Summer Youth Gathering, takes place on Saturday 15th August from 11.00 am to 4.00 pm at St Joseph’s, Kilmarnock, with transport provided free of charge from each regional base.
